Nubri area lies in the northern part of historical district Gorkha. It includes Bihi, Prok, Lho and Sama Village Development Committees. Bhote Lama ethnic group lives in this area. They have own culture and religion.

 

There are around 9000 people in 850 households. Main occupations are agriculture and animal husbandry. There are maize, barley, potato as crops and apple and oat nut as fruits. Local products are sufficient only for 3 months. For 9 months they  import food from Tibet and Arughat .

 

There are Manaslu, Serangi, Chuli Himal and Himalchuli mountains. Among then Manaslu ( 8163 m) is one of peak above 8000m. KalTal and Biredratal etc. are main lakes in this area.

Nubri people are Buddhist in religion. There are many monasteries and stupas in the villages. There is Buddhist education including Nepali and English subjects in there monasteries which provide residence for monks and nuns. There are government schools in every VDCs. There are health posts in every village.
